Volleyball Match: Indonesia Wins Dramatic 3-2 Victory Over Qatar

Volleyball Match – Indonesia’s men’s national volleyball team clinched a thrilling 3-2 win against Qatar in Group B of the 2026 AVC Cup Men’s Volleyball Tournament on Monday evening, Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The five-set match concluded with scores of 14-25, 25-22, 32-30, 25-27, and 15-13, marking a significant breakthrough for Alfien Daniel and his squad in the competition.

Coach’s Strategic Shift Sparks Comeback

Loudry Maspaitella, the team manager, highlighted the tactical adjustments made during the game. “We showed improvement compared to our match against Korea. Coach Toiran took a bold approach by introducing younger players in the first set. Nibras, Alfin, and Gumilar stepped up and altered the momentum,” he stated in an official press release on Tuesday.

“Appreciation to the boys and the coach. We played better than yesterday against Korea. Coach Toiran was brave. When the first set was difficult to penetrate, he switched to younger players. He brought on Nibras, Alfin, and Gumilar. That changed the game,” said Indonesian national team manager Loudry Maspaitella in an official statement on Tuesday.

Match Breakdown and Turning Point

Despite a sluggish start, Indonesia found its rhythm in the second set, holding a 15-13 lead and eventually closing the set 25-22. Qatar, however, dominated the third set, methodically building a lead that seemed insurmountable. The Garuda squad fought back, leveling the score at 16-16 and forcing Qatar to surrender 32-30 in the third set.

The fourth set saw Qatar regain control, taking a 15-13 lead before Indonesia managed to tie the match at 25-25. The deciding set proved pivotal, as Indonesia displayed greater composure and resilience, overcoming Qatar 15-13 to secure the victory.

With two points accumulated from two matches, Indonesia currently occupies the group’s lowest position. The team will next face Thailand in the following match on Tuesday at 7:30 PM WIB.
