Prabowo Approves Rp100.1 Trillion for Sumatra Disaster Recovery

Prabowo Greenlights Rp100 1tn Funds for Sumatra – President Prabowo Subianto has given the go-ahead for a three-year recovery budget of Rp100.1 trillion following the Sumatra disaster. The funds will be dispersed among 23 primary ministries and 10 supporting agencies, with implementation planned in three stages.

Phased Allocation Details

Tito Karnavian, the Minister of Home Affairs and head of the Sumatra Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force, disclosed the budget breakdown. “The president issued a directive to approve the three-year post-disaster recovery plan, which will be rolled out in three phases,” he stated on Thursday, June 18, 2026, according to Antara.

“The first phase will see Rp38.9 trillion disbursed in 2026, followed by Rp32.9 trillion in 2027 and Rp28.2 trillion in 2028,”

he elaborated. The allocation aims to accelerate rebuilding efforts across damaged public infrastructure and communities.

Funding Distribution and Progress

Ministries and agencies have begun accessing the recovery funds, with five already implementing programs. “The Finance Ministry is handling applications from the remaining entities,” Tito noted. He urged the steering committee and financial officials to streamline approvals for faster progress.

“We convened a meeting with all district heads and city mayors in Aceh to align the budget’s use with immediate regional needs,”

he added. The initiative has seen significant momentum, as 97% of temporary housing for displaced residents and public facilities have been restored.

Regional Support Funds

Local governments in the three impacted provinces have received a total of Rp10.6 trillion (US$593 million) in regional transfer funds. This includes Rp1.6 trillion (US$89.5 million) for Aceh, Rp2.6 trillion (US$145 million) for West Sumatra, and Rp6.1 trillion (US$341 million) for North Sumatra.
