Iranian Parliament Calls for Cancellation of Islamabad – Iran’s legislative body has prompted its leaders to revoke the agreement with the U.S., according to Fars news agency. The move comes amid growing tensions following a series of military actions by both nations.

Statement from Iranian Lawmakers

Hundreds of Iranian lawmakers issued a statement urging retaliatory actions, the termination of the U.S. MoU, the establishment of a special commission to examine U.S. diplomatic talks, the enactment of legislation governing the Strait of Hormuz, and full backing for Iran’s military forces, as reported by ANTARA on July 14.

The U.S. and Iran inked an MoU on June 18 to halt hostilities initiated on February 28. Yet, the U.S. conducted an additional airstrike on July 8, escalating the conflict.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) cited Iran’s assaults on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz as the justification for the airstrike. In response, Iranian military units targeted U.S. facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

The agreement aimed to de-escalate tensions, but the airstrike reignited hostilities. Iranian lawmakers argue the U.S. breach undermines diplomatic efforts and demands stricter measures to safeguard national interests.
