AGO Orders Halt to Regional Data – On July 10, 2026, the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office issued a directive to suspend data gathering efforts related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative. The document, labeled B-3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026, instructs all regional prosecutors to pause activities involving the collection of information about the program within their areas of responsibility.
About the Letter
The order was signed by Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, head of the Special Crimes Directorate under the Deputy Attorney General. It was also forwarded to the Attorney General, other deputy offices, and the Special Assistant to the Attorney General.
“We request all Heads of High Prosecutors’ Offices in Indonesia to cease data and information collection on the MBG program,” the letter states.
Confirmation from Legal Information Center
Anang Supriatna, director of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Center, verified the issuance of the directive. When contacted via WhatsApp on July 13, 2026, he confirmed its authenticity, stating, “Correct,” as the document was officially released.
Reasons for Suspension
Anang explained that the halt followed the expiration of data collection deadlines twice. He also highlighted concerns about potential misuse of the collected data during the program’s implementation. However, he clarified that the directive does not interfere with ongoing investigations into MBG-related corruption cases, emphasizing that it applies only to data collection, not to legal proceedings.
Suspects Identified
The AGO has named seven individuals as suspects in the alleged MBG corruption case. These include:
- Dadan Hindayana, former head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN)
- Sony Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, his deputies
- Asep Yusuf Somantri, a close ally of Sony
- Andri Mulyono, commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, which supplies BGN motorbikes
- Glory Harimas Sihombing, chair of the Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation (IFSR)
- Brigadier General Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan, deputy secretary for promotion and cooperation at BGN
General Mahardan is reportedly linked to setting pricing for food trays distributed under the MBG program.
