Government Invites Public to Vote on Indonesia’s Independence Day Logo

Govt Launches Public Vote for Indonesia – On June 24, 2026, the Indonesian government initiated a public voting process to determine the official logo for the nation’s 81st Independence Day celebration. The State Secretariat Ministry, acting on behalf of the administration, announced the launch of a survey to select the visual identity representing the event. This move marks a shift toward inclusive decision-making in national commemorations.

Minister’s Statement on Public Participation

Teuku Riefky Harsya, Minister of Creative Economy, highlighted that the public is being directly involved in choosing the logo for the first time in history. “The President has directed that the people actively participate in deciding the design through a formal voting system,” he explained during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

“The President wants the excitement of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence to belong to the people, to all Indonesian citizens,” Harsya added.

Finalists Selected from Across the Nation

Following a competitive process, 124 submissions from Indonesia’s diverse regions were reviewed, leading to the selection of five designers as the top contenders. These finalists—David Wirawan from Surakarta, Fajar Novario from Padang, Kanda Putra from Denpasar, Riskiawan from Malang, and Tiffany Djohan from Batam—will now be evaluated by the public.

Theme and Voting Process

Alongside the logo competition, the government also finalized the theme for the 81st Independence Day commemoration: “Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.” The selection of finalists was guided by this theme, ensuring alignment with national values. Voting is open from June 24 to 28, 2026, via the official platform https://logohutri.istanapresiden.go.id/.

Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro noted that the public’s role extends beyond the logo, as the theme was also decided in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Graphic Designers (ADGI). This dual approach aims to foster a deeper connection between citizens and the nation’s historical milestones.
