Court Sets Next Week for Nadiem Makarim’s Sentencing Hearing

Court Sets Next Week for Nadiem – The Corruption Court in Central Jakarta has scheduled the announcement of Nadiem Makarim’s verdict for Tuesday, June 30, 2026. According to Presiding Judge Purwanto S. Abdullah, the panel will take time to finalize the decision after completing the trial process.

Verdict Date and Judicial Deliberation

Speaking during the trial on June 23, 2026, Purwanto emphasized that the judges would review all arguments, evidence, and party opinions before rendering the judgment. “We need time to draft the verdict, so it will be announced on June 30,” he explained.

“Now, the judges are deliberating with clear conscience and firm conviction to ensure justice is upheld through the final decision,” Purwanto added.

Defense and Previous Sentence

Nadiem Makarim concluded his final defense on June 23, 2026, in the form of a rejoinder responding to the prosecutor’s arguments. Earlier, he had been sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment, a fine of Rp1 billion, and an additional 190 days of substitute detention. He was also ordered to compensate Rp5.68 trillion in total, including Rp809.59 billion personally and Rp4.8 trillion for 12 private companies linked to Chromebook vendors.

Prosecution’s Charges

The prosecutor alleged that Nadiem violated Article 603 of the Corruption Law, combined with Article 18 and Article 20(c) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. The charges centered on his enrichment of Rp809.59 billion and the involvement of 12 companies in Chromebook procurement.

“The procurement of Chromebook was driven by Nadiem’s business interests to influence Google’s investment decisions in PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (AKAB),” the prosecutor stated. “This company, now known as PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia, was founded by him.”

The prosecutor highlighted that the Chromebook purchases caused state financial losses totaling Rp2.18 trillion. This includes Rp1.56 trillion from the audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKP) and Rp621.38 billion from Chrome Device Management procurement, calculated using exchange rates from August 2020 to December 2022.
