Why Prosecutors Did Not Detain Febrie – On July 15, 2026, Anang Supriatna, head of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General’s Office, provided insight into why Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), was not detained. According to Anang, the decision was based on the current status of the investigation.

Febrie’s Availability for Questioning

“Febrie is currently present and available for questioning whenever needed,” Anang stated during a press briefing. He also confirmed that the former deputy remains in Indonesia.

The prosecutors have initiated a new order for investigation (sprindik) in three separate cases linked to Febrie. These include alleged corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel, misconduct connected to a blackout incident at the State Electricity Company’s Steam Power Plant in Sumatra, and corruption allegations at PT Asuransi Sosial Angkatan Bersenjata (PT Asabri).

Investigation Status and Team Composition

The sprindik was officially issued on July 13, 2026. Despite this, Febrie continues to serve as a witness in the ongoing inquiry. Anang clarified that the investigation remains in the general stage, and his role is not yet that of a suspect.

Don Ritto, who had previously been labeled a suspect, has also transitioned to the witness role. Anang noted that after the case was transferred from the police to the Attorney General’s Office, the three investigations are now fully managed by the prosecutors. A dedicated special team of nine senior prosecutors, separate from the Jampidsus group, has been assembled to handle the cases.

Reviewing Previous Police Work

Anang emphasized that the special team will assess the findings from earlier investigations conducted by the Indonesian Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor Polri) and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. While a new sprindik has been launched, the police’s work is still considered in the prosecutors’ analysis.
