Prabowo: Social Media Can Mislead, Trust Elected Leaders Instead

Warning Against Online Misinformation

Prabowo – At a ceremony in West Nusa Tenggara on July 10, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the risks of social media in shaping public perception. He emphasized that digital platforms can be influenced by those with financial means and specific agendas.

“A global problem exists: social media. It can be manipulated. Those with money can sway what people see online,” Prabowo remarked during the event.

He cautioned that false information spreads rapidly through these channels and urged citizens to remain skeptical of online content. “Not all information shared on social media is accurate,” he said, stressing the importance of critical thinking.

Dam Inauguration and Infrastructure Development

Prabowo’s visit to West Lombok Regency also marked the official opening of the Meninting Dam, alongside four other dams in different provinces. The projects, completed between 2015 and 2025, aim to enhance water management and agricultural productivity.

“I am honored to inaugurate these dams, which represent the nation’s investment in progress,” Prabowo stated.

The five dams include the Meninting Dam in West Nusa Tenggara, the Keureuto and Rukoh Dams in Aceh, the Jlantah Dam in Central Java, and the Sidan Dam in Bali. Each required substantial resources and time, often spanning multiple presidential terms.

Call for Institutional Trust

Prabowo urged the public to support elected leaders and government bodies, believing they are better equipped to guide national priorities. “Place your confidence in the leaders you have selected,” he advised.

He also reminded officials to uphold transparency, warning that repeated deceit could undermine public trust. “Leaders must serve truthfully, or they risk harming the people they are meant to protect,” Prabowo added.
