Prabowo: Leaders Who Deceive Citizens Commit a Moral Transgression

Prabowo – In Jakarta, President Prabowo Subianto responded to claims that the Indonesian government had misled the public. He emphasized that falsehoods from leaders are not just errors but serious ethical violations. The remarks came during a speech at the B50 biodiesel initiative’s unveiling in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Prabowo highlighted his administration’s achievement of food self-sufficiency within a year. He criticized those who dismissed this progress, stating, “Many individuals who pride themselves on intelligence are now mocking and questioning our success, even accusing us of fabricating the claim.” The former defense minister insisted that such actions undermine public trust.

B50 Biodiesel Program Launched to Reduce Fuel Imports

At the same event, Prabowo announced the mandatory B50 biodiesel program, which requires blending 50% palm-oil-based biodiesel into all diesel fuel sold domestically. Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia supported the policy, asserting it would cut Indonesia’s dependence on foreign diesel. “Thanks to divine providence, we will no longer need to import diesel products,” he declared, citing the program’s potential to transform the nation’s energy landscape.

Bahlil noted that Indonesia consumes 38 to 40 million kiloliters of diesel annually. Currently, the country imports approximately 3 to 4 million kiloliters to meet this demand. The B50 initiative aims to shift this balance by promoting local renewable energy sources.

“Leaders who betray the country’s interests are not just lying—they are committing treason,” Prabowo added, reinforcing his stance on transparency and accountability in governance.
