Death Toll from Venezuela Earthquakes Reaches 2 – TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Following the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela, the casualty count has climbed to 2,645, with 12,666 individuals reported injured, as stated by Jorge Rodriguez, President of the National Assembly. Rodriguez, who also oversees the temporary shelter command center, provided an update on July 3, 2026, through a Telegram post, citing Xinhua and Antara for the report.

Rescue and Relief Efforts Continue

According to the update, search and rescue missions are still active in regions affected by the tremors. Over 6,462 people have been saved since the disaster, while 86,117 families have received emergency aid. The earthquakes led to extensive structural harm, including 885 damaged buildings and 189 collapsed structures. To support displaced residents, 59 temporary shelters have been established nationwide.

“Rescue efforts and relief activities continue in the impacted areas. We are working to ensure affected communities receive the necessary support,” said Rodriguez.

Additional challenges have emerged with the occurrence of 890 aftershocks since the initial twin quakes, complicating recovery efforts. A total of 3,305 international rescuers and 29,567 domestic emergency personnel remain deployed to assist in operations. The government is actively managing emergency response, shelter distribution, and infrastructure evaluations as it deals with one of the most severe natural disasters in recent history.
