Indonesian Men’s Volleyball Team Claims 2026 AVC Cup Title with Dominant 3-0 Win Over South Korea

Indonesian Volleyball Team Wins 2026 AVC Cup – On June 28, 2026, Indonesia’s men’s volleyball squad etched their name in history by clinching the 2026 AVC Men’s Cup after a decisive 3-0 victory over South Korea in the final held in India. The triumph marked a reversal of fortunes following Indonesia’s earlier 3-0 loss to South Korea during the Group A preliminary stage of the Asia volleyball tournament.

Coaching Adjustments for the Final Match

Head coach Reidel Toiran reshuffled the starting lineup ahead of the title showdown. Rama Fazza took over from Fauzan Nibras, while Putra Hidayatullah replaced Ahmad Gumilar. Despite these changes, Boy Arnez Arabi, Hendra Kurnniawan, and Farhan Halim remained in their positions.

“Alhamdulillah, it feels like a dream. Many people doubted this team, but the players silenced skeptics with a remarkable performance, exceeding the federation’s expectations,” said Indonesia assistant coach Nur Widayanto, as reported by the PBVSI media team on Sunday night.

Nur Widayanto acknowledged the team’s challenges in the opening set, noting South Korea’s formidable serves disrupted Indonesia’s rhythm. “In the first set, we were overwhelmed by their difficult serves. Our attacks lacked precision, and their blocks neutralized our efforts,” he explained.

The tide turned in the second set as Indonesia’s aggressive serving strategy began to take effect. Nur highlighted the impact of Boy Arnez and Farhan Halim’s deliveries, which unsettled the opponents. “From the second set onward, our serves created chaos for South Korea’s defense. The blockers stepped up, and our back-row players converted defensive plays into scoring chances,” he added.

Reidel Toiran’s tactical acumen was praised as a pivotal factor in the win. “The Cuban coach’s ability to adapt mid-game was crucial,” Nur remarked. “Introducing Rama Fazza proved to be a game-changer, as he delivered key points through both attacking and serving prowess.”
